Councillor gets a move on at Moorfoot (originally published by SIV)

12August 2016

Sheffield councillor Cate McDonald made her move by testing out a new fitness facility at The Moorfoot Building.

Cllr McDonald tried out a Stretch and Core class in the Health and Wellbeing Space at Sheffield City Council’s Moorfoot office.

SIV runs a range of weekly fitness sessions at a subsidised rate for council staff before and after work and during lunchtime from the office building on The Moor.

Employees can take part in classes including Body Conditioning, Yoga, Zumba, HIIT Training and Boxing Circuit.

The health and wellbeing programme is being delivered by SIV in partnership with Activity Sheffield, Sheffield City Council.

SIV is part of the not-for-profit Sheffield City Trust (SCT), whose primary objective is to improve the health and wellbeing of Sheffield people by providing facilities for sport and leisure activities.

Cllr Cate McDonald, cabinet member for health and social care, said: “Workplaces that encourage their employees to be more physically active are proven to reduce absenteeism, presenteeism and increase productivity! It’s great to see SIV and Sheffield City Council really taking a lead on this to deliver individual health benefits and happier workplaces.”
