Lord Mayor of Sheffield 120th Anniversary

13 July 2017

It’s officially the 120th anniversary of the Grant of the Title of Lord Mayor of Sheffield – 120 years since Sheffield became a city – and to mark the occasion a couple from Sheffield, who married today, got a little surprise from current Lord Mayor, Councillor Anne Murphy.

Hannah Rose Bee Whitelam and Peter Thomas Hodges were married today at 11am at the Sheffield Town Hall. Following their wedding ceremony they were met by Cllr Murphy,  121st Lord Mayor of Sheffield and consort Mr Gavin Holliday.

Cllr Murphy presented the bride and groom with a card, bottle of bubbly and bouquet of flowers, and posed for photos at the bottom of the grand staircase, by the side of the first Lord Mayor his Grace the Duke of Norfolk RM KG (Lord Mayor from July to November 1897).
